Stage 2 - Monday, July 2 (35 miles)
The glycogen stores are not yet depleted and so Eric tells me everyone is still feeling pretty good after today's 35 mile day from VA 603 to VA 617. I haven't heard any stories from today's trek yet, but I'm aware the tents and hammocks are hanging out to dry at Ron Diss' (Eric's colleague) house in Rural Retreat where the runners and crew are camping tonight. Hopefully tonight's rest will be uneventful, compared with last night, as tomorrow brings another 38 miles.

thanks for the updates! The heat is bad enough, hope y'all didn't get hit with some of those storms...
ReplyDeleteYes, thanks for the updates. Wish everyone happy runnings.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the hard work. I know the weather is treacherous but you all are the toughest of the tough. Thanks for the updates. "Go Troy"
ReplyDeleteyo Robin thanks tons for the updates!!
ReplyDeletewe are watching closely from here in WV.
Hey Eric and Robin, Each day of the tour, I've run a few miles of the trails here in Cherokee Park as a way to connect with your challenge. The heat is blistering and the trails are hard and dusty. When I cross Beargrass Creek at various locations along the trail, I can smell the bacteria growing and imagine I'm breathing lethal toxins. I hope the A.T. is fresher. Anyway I imagine you and your friends sweating along and so I try to think where you might be and how you might be feeling. Good Luck MOM
ReplyDeleteThanks for updating Robin. I was hoping I could come down for a couple of the stages but my wedding is this weekend and that ultimately prevails. Hope all goes well for Eric and the other adventurers.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend! It's sooner than I recall. Wish we could be there. Congratulations, Michael!!
DeleteI think that it is great that they are doing well even though it is quite harsh and there are some many millage left.
